The SkyScan 1172 represents a new generation in high-resolution desktop X-ray microtomography (Micro-CT) systems for in vitro scanning. The combined ability of the sample stage and the x-ray camera to move is a novel architecture which allows for an unprecedented combination of image resolution, sample size accommodation, scan speed and sample throughput. The innovative scanning geometry of the SkyScan 1172 Micro-CT is particularly advantageous at intermediate resolution levels, where scans are completed up to ten times faster with the same resolution and image quality, compared to previous Micro-CTs with a fixed source-detector design.
Adaptive Geometry - A bright idea in microtomography
Using Adaptive Geometry, the Skyscan 1172 Micro-CT adjusts the distance between the X-ray detector and source for the optimum position for a given scan. A majority of scans can be performed with the detector closer to the source for higher intensities on the detector which means faster scan times and more throughput for you. When you need higher resolution (below 4 microns) or a larger field of view, the Skyscan 1172 Micro-CT moves the detector to the far position. Adaptive Geometry gives you the flexibility to manage workflow without compromising resolution.
