Modular SFC’s CFC™-2x (patent pending) Centrifugal Extract Collector is a bench top accessory for new and existing SFE equipment. The CFC-2x provides researchers and engineers with the ability to separate, fractionate, and concentrate extracts without post extraction processing for supercritical fluid extraction applications. The CFC-2x collects extracts into vessels contained within a novel (patent pending) rotor, spinning at speeds sufficient to ensure material of interest is trapped while allowing CO2 to escape. The CFC-2x can collect all extracted material into a single vessel or fractionate based on time or detector response. The E-Tube™ (patent pending) dispenses to the next vessel while the rotor continues to spin. The traditional process of recovering the extract into a trap solvent or onto a trap solid (which can result in significant loss of material) is eliminated, saving hours or even days depending on scale. If an organic modifier is used to increase the polarity of the CO2, the CFC-2x will simultaneously dry this solvent during collection. The collection path is swept with inert gas or solvent eliminating the possibility of carryover. At the end of the extraction, the researcher is left with solvent free material at maximum yields; utilizing less time and effort compared to traditional extraction techniques. The CFC-2x is easily integrated into any existing SFE process.
